DND Farms, LLC took my beef to the locker or I ordered a package, why don't I get it right away? What is taking so long?

​Getting fresh beef is always exciting, but there is a few processes that are different than just walking into the grocery store and picking out what you want. To get great tasting beef the carcass is hung prior to being cut. We ideally like to see them hung for 14 days (this is after they are slaughtered), realistically they are probably hanging between 10-14 days. The lockers are very busy, and trying to keep up with regular producers (like us) and the current influx of new customers buying bulk beef.

After the carcass has "aged" the butcher then cuts it into the specific cuts on the order. If you are purchasing a package of beef from us, we determine the cut specifics. If you purchased a quarter, half or whole than you and the butcher determine the cuts.

Question 2

What cuts should I get when purchasing a half or whole?

We get this question a lot! This is totally up to you, the customer. As you are the one who will be cooking this beef, we suggest that you get it cut to your standards. We would be happy to share with you our preferences, but also understand that some of the dishes that we make regularly might not be the same as what is cooked in your household.

Our butcher will walk you through the order form and give you choices of how your beef can be cut. It helps to have a little bit of an idea as to the beef cuts that are on the beef that you ordered.

Cuts commonly gotten with our beef orders:
 
Rib Eye, T-Bone, New York Strip, Sirloin Tip, Brisket, Ribs, Chuck or Arm Roast, Stew Meat, Cube Steak, and Hamburger

Question 3

Who do I pay for what service?

If purchasing a quarter, half or whole beef, you pay to different people. First you pay us for the "beef" that you purchased. The price of what you pay is determined by the weight that the beef hangs at. Therefore we won't know your total paid to us until the beef is slaughtered. We then contact you with your total after we have contacted the butcher shop and gotten hanging weights.

We then take the total hanging weight divide it if the beef is being divided and then take that total weight and multiply it by the price per pound the beef is being sold.

Hanging weight = 450 lbs

Purchasing a half of beef = 225 lbs

225 lbs x $5/lb = $1125 to DND Farms, LLC for customer's portion of beef
 
When purchasing a half or whole, the customer will then pay the butcher shop for their services of cutting the beef. Our farm tries our best to prepare our customers for this process so there are no hidden surprises when it comes to paying for your beef.

However, DND Farms, LLC doesn't have any say in the prices that the butcher shop charges. We feel that their services are priced reasonably and that they are very knowledgeable in what they do.

When purchasing beef packages, your payment goes directly to DND Farms, LLC. There is no need to contact the butcher shop as the cost of butchering has already been added into the package price.

What forms of payment do you take?

We accept cash, check, Paypal, and Venmo. We try to make our beef affordable for all budgets, so if you have a set budget and want something specific please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate.

 *A down payment will be required on half and whole beef carcasses. This is impart to help with the end total, as it isn't as expensive for the customer, but also protects us as the producer.
